The maps below are shaded to show prosecutor staffing levels based on a state workload formula, the number of prosecutors per capita and the number of sworn law enforcement officers per prosecutor. Darker colors show where more prosecutors are needed. Ideal prosecutor staffing is determined by tallying the number of cases in each office and weighting them by the time each type of case typically takes to resolve. Requested positions are what the local district attorney is seeking in the 2017-19 state budget (decimals indicate a part-time staffer or converting a part-time position to full time).
