Starting Anew, Part II
Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers Special Report
Thousands of Hmong refugees are arriving in Wisconsin from a refugee camp in Thailand to start a new life in a new world. For them, it is a journey of hope and in many cases a journey of survival. A team of three journalists from Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers spent two weeks at the Wat Tham Krabok refugee camp in late June and early July to report on that journey. The second part of the Special Report, "Starting Anew," chronicles the life and culture they leave behind as well as the apprehension and fear many feel as they leave Thailand. An archive of the daily reports and photos from Wat Tham Krabok can be found on this site as well as reporting from individual Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers.
