Oconto 4th in 16-team
In the 16 school Peshtigo Invite last Saturday, Oconto Falls had 5 champions to win the meet with 245 points, followed by Peshtigo at 207, Escanaba at 174 and Oconto in fourth at 147.
Rory Cisar's Blue Devils had champions from Marty LaCourt at 145 pounds and William Urbanek at 152, plus runner-up finishes by Ben Thome at 125 and Ben Ruechel, injury withdraw at 171 pounds.

Oconto Wrestlers Quietly Successful
Hard work, dedication and a "never give up" attitude produce a strong Oconto showing at the 39th Annual Peshtigo Bulldog Wrestling Invitational. Oconto finished 4th behind 1st place Oconto Falls, ranked 8th in D2, 2nd place Peshtigo and 3rd place Escanaba.
Coach Rory Cisar noted, this finish may erase some skeptics in the high school wrestling world. Oconto's wrestling team was predicted to finish last in this year's wrestling regional in Koy Kosek's "2007-2008 Wisconsin Wrestling Digest". Where they finish in the regional will be determined later in the year, but the group has taken it upon themselves to improve their status in high school wrestling. Kosek also describes wrestling in the Packerland Conference as "brutal". Oconto's wrestlers have something to prove; and they are doing it by their actions on the mat. By finishing 2nd at Wittenberg Charger Invitational two weeks ago, their impressive finish at Peshtigo, and a big conference win against a tough Kewaunee Indian team last Thursday, the Blue Devil wrestling team is proving the preseason prediction wrong.
