The Oconto County Public Health Department said Wednesday it has recorded its second swine flu death in the county — one of 11 deaths related to swine flu across Wisconsin in the past week.
The department is not releasing any more information about the deceased at the request of the family.
The Department of Health Services said the deaths bring to 31 the number of deaths statewide since last spring.
In addition to Oconto County, the new deaths include two each in Dane and Portage counties, and single cases in Jefferson, Kenosha, Marathon, Ozaukee, Racine and Waupaca counties.
The department said swine flu cases are modestly decreasing across the state, but the presence of the virus remains widespread.
