Christian, Merle E.

Merle E. Christian, age 72, Clintonville, formerly of New London, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009. Merle was born on January 29, 1937, in Neenah, son of the late Edward and Grace (Vanderhoof) Christian. On September 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Judith St. Louis. She preceded him in death in 2007. Merle was employed at Kimberly-Clark in Neenah for 15 years until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. He served his country in the US Army Reserves.

He is survived by three daughters: Kim (Adam) Mitchell, Clintonville; Lynnette (Michael) Bruette, New London; Valerie Christian (fiancee Kevin Beattie), New London; a son, Gary (Carol) Christian, New London; a brother, James (Barb) Christian, Larsen; two sisters: Cheryl (Gary) Gorges, Neenah and Shirley (David) Milner, Omro. Ten grandchildren, a great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Merle.

Besides his parents and wife, Merle was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerry, Loyal, and Garreth and a grandson, Tyler Torrez.

Funeral services for Merle will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Town of Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday.
