West De Pere Phantoms shut down Waupaca Comets to earn trip to state championship game

KIMBERLY – The West De Pere football team beat Waupaca 17-7 in a WIAA Division 3 semifinal at Papermaker Stadium.



The Phantoms will play Reedsburg in the championship game at 10 a.m. on Friday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

West De Pere’s defense came up big against the Comets, forcing five turnovers and not allowing a point.

Waupaca’s offense never could get untracked, with the only touchdown for the Comets coming on a 56-yard return of a blocked punt.
