WINNECONNE – A 20-year-old Omro man returned a shotgun he borrowed from a Winneconne woman in the nick of time Wednesday.
The man had borrowed the firearm about four weeks earlier. The woman advised police of her difficulty in retrieving the weapon and police told the man he'd face theft charges if he failed to return the weapon.
In other incidents, police:
--Cited a 54-year-old woman for disorderly conduct after she repeatedly pounded on her apartment ceiling causing her upstairs neighbor's floor to reverberate. She had been warned in August to stop pounding on her ceiling,
The North Second Street man called police Tuesday to report the pounding as a nearly daily occurrence every time he makes the slightest movement in his apartment. Police went to the woman's apartment but she refused to open the door. In speech peppered with vulgarities she told police to go away and leave her alone. The officer's entire conversation was through the woman's closed door, according to a report.
Police mailed the citation to the woman.
--Picked up a 40-year-old man wanted on a warrant for an unpaid citation for $197. They found the man intoxicated and stumbling around behind the fire department on Saturday. They took him to his residence to pick up the bond money but he didn't have enough. Police waited while he went to a friend's residence to get the rest of the money. They then took him to the police department to post the bond and later drove him home.
