Focus on Family seminar

PLOVER -- Focus on Parenting, a national live simulcast event, will be presented from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodlands Church, 190 Hoover Ave., Plover. This one-day event is presented by Focus on the Family of Colorado Springs and is designed to equip parents in every stage of child rearing with biblical, time-tested, practical ideas and tools.

Tickets cost $25 per person or $40 per couple. They are available at Woodlands Church by calling 341-0800.

Genealogy Society to meet

WAUPACA -- The Waupaca Area Genealogy Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Holly Genealogy and History Center, 321 S. Main St., Waupaca, for the elections of officers, a by-law review and a roundtable discussion.

Sign up for Infant Storytime

Infant Storytime for babies up to 18 months will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 in the Prairie Room at the Charles M. White Public Library. The program will include information on early literacy and the pre-reading skills your child can start learning from birth. It also will introduce developmentally appropriate games, songs, stories and rhymes.

Lioness scholarships

IOLA -- The Iola Lioness Club is accepting applications for two $500 scholarships to be given to non-traditional students who live in the Iola-Scandinavia School District. Candidates must be out of high school for at least five years and be returning to school to further their education or to complete their GED or HSED.

Applications are available in the financial aid offices of local universities and technical colleges. Applications also can be requested by mail; contact Iola Lioness Club, Attn: Scholarship, Lynn Myers, N7790 County Road J, Iola WI 54945 or call 715-445-3292.

Applications must be returned by Dec. 1.

Museum opens dental exhibit

The newest permanent exhibit at the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum offers great opportunities for role playing and learning about the importance of healthy teeth. Visitors to the dental clinic exhibit can wear a lab coat, check X-rays, lie in the dentist's chair, brush and floss an oversized mouth, read a book about teeth and play with a puppet that has a toothy smile.

The Children's Museum is in CenterPoint MarketPlace. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
