New London High

Parent-teacher conferences will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday.

New London Middle

There are only three weeks left in the trimester. Here are several ways to help your children improve learning and study habits: Give them a quiet place to work; set aside a particular time each night for homework and/or studying; show interest in their work; require agenda usage; and communicate with teachers. Students also can receive help during study halls and report to Danielle Sievert’s classroom at 7:40 a.m. each morning, and after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ basketball “B” teams will travel to Black Creek on Monday. The eighth grade will host Clintonville on Tuesday while the seventh grade travels to Clintonville. On Thursday, the eighth grade will travel to Freedom while the seventh-grade team hosts.

Lincoln Elementary

On Thursday, students will hear a presentation about railroad safety.
Parents are invited to attend the Parent-Teacher Organization meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday. Childcare is provided. Meetings last one hour.
Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms are finishing WKCE state testing.

Parkview Elementary

Congratulations to the following students who will represent their peers on the 2009-10 Student Council: Dylan Schley, Connor Bytell, Shane Presswood, Vanessa Turner, Zachery Fields, Markus Anderson and Taylor Bernard (third-graders); Anna Davidson, Sophia Wenzel-Berger, Lexia Sakowski, Meckenzi Wolfgram, Emelia Roberts, Veronica Presswood, Elizabeth Radke and Erika Dorow (fourth-graders); and Josie Ruckdashel, Leah Porath, Jesse Jaeckels, Erin Wetzel, Maddie Ruckdashel, Tori Tayek, Taylor Popke, Ali Glynn and Alison Hidde (fifth-graders).
School will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving vacation.

Sugar Bush Elementary

The public is invited to attend a character assembly at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the gym. Thanks to Michael Haas who was able to attend the last assembly. He spoke about his role with the U.S. Navy Reserves and his deployment to Afghanistan.

Readfield Elementary

The Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam will wrap up next week.
The character trait of cooperation will be celebrated during an assembly on Wednesday.

Emanuel Lutheran

Students with last names beginning with the letters A-K will sing during a service at 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Those with last names beginning with L-Z will sing at 9 a.m. Sunday.
School pictures will be retaken and team pictures will be taken Wednesday.
A parent open forum featuring Jack Vande Guchte will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
An all-school worship service will take place at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 20. Parents are invited.
The SonShine Committee is sponsoring a hat and mitten drive. Collection boxes will be located in the church narthex, in the school commons and in upper and lower classrooms until Dec. 14.

Most Precious Blood Catholic

On Nov. 6, students in grades 3-5 visited Michel’s
Quarry in Mackville to study fossils and mineral deposits.
Friday, students in grades 4K-2 will attend “Click, Clack, Moo,” a play presented at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton.

Hortonville High

The National Honor Society will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 20.

Hortonville Middle

The seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ basketball season is under way. Game schedules can be found at www.highschoolsports.net. The Running Club held a 5K run/walk on Nov. 7. About 20 students trained for the event for nine weeks. A grant helped support the program. Participants received a T-shirt and all finishers received a stainless steel water bottle. The remainder of the money will be used to mark running routes and trails in the Hortonville area.
Students will be off for Thanksgiving vacation Nov. 26 and 27.

Hortonville Elementary

The Parent-Teacher Organization will meet from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school library.
There will be no school Nov. 26 and 27 for Thanksgiving break.

Bethlehem Lutheran

School pictures will be retaken Tuesday.
A Deer Hunters’ church service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Boy Pioneers will sponsor a fellowship meal before the service in the church basement. Students in grades 7 and 8 will sing during the service.
The preschool program will have an informational booth at the Children’s Fair being held Tuesday and Wednesday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville.

St. Edward

The Home and School Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Children will watch a movie and enjoy popcorn in the gym while parents meet in the cafeteria.
Students in grades 3-5 will travel to Xavier High School on Wednesday to watch the student production of “Oklahoma!”
Students in grades K-5 will dress as their favorite book character and enjoy a story in the school library one day next week to celebrate National Book Week.

Greenville Middle

During October, seventh- and eighth-graders created Veterans Day posters for the Fox Valley Veterans Day juried art contest. Only three awards per grade were awarded. Eighth-grader Johan Aulwes and seventh-grader Carlye Pierri received awards. The awards were presented Wednesday at a Veterans Day ceremony in Appleton.

Greenville Elementary

The Parent-Teacher Organization will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the library.
The Hortonville Area School District will host a Children’s Fair next week at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N1615 Meadowview Drive, Greenville. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. All 3- and 4-year old children and their parents are invited to learn about child development and area resources.

St. Mary Catholic

Seventh-grader Erin Batzler was invited to attend a special meeting Wednesday at Appleton’s old courthouse on Walnut Street for being one of the winners in the annual Veterans Day poster contest.

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran

Students are collecting pennies and nickels for the “Children Feeding Thousands” project. The Fox Valley Lutheran Schools service project will culminate April 22 and 23 when more than 3,000 students will bag 285,000 meals for children in Zambia, Africa.

Shiocton High

Students will be dismissed at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 25 and will not have school Nov. 26 and 27 for Thanksgiving break.

Shiocton Middle/|Elementary

Thanks to everyone who attended the Veterans Day program.
The second quarter is under way.
Students in grades 3-8 have finished WKCE testing.
