Diener, Erna Rosa

Erna Rosa Diener, age 87, of Hilbert, went home to heaven on Wed., Nov. 11, 2009. She was born on July 9, 1922, in the Town of Rantoul, daughter of the late Henry & Anna (Leider) Krueger. She was baptized, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. On Sept. 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Emil Diener of Hilbert, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul, he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1968. Erna then sold the farm and went to work for Salm's in Potter for a short time, and then began a 28 year career in the dietary department at Toth Nursing home in Chilton. She retired at the age of 75 and she enjoyed many games of card with her friends and family. Erna did many works of embroidery for her friends and family, always wanting to do a job that was both beautiful and appreciated. She had a great sense of humor and liked everyone she met. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert, and a member of the Ladies Aid. Erna was faithful about reading her Bible and prayer book every day.

Survivors include her four children, Dolores (Ron) Borneman of Hilbert, Dale (Sue) Diener of Hilbert, Darlene (Randy) Rollins of Menasha, Dan (Connie) Diener of Hilbert; eight grandchildren, Darin Borneman & special friend Melissa LeRoy, Jeff (Kim) Borneman, Brian (Jessica) Borneman, Donald (Janelle) Diener, Brad (Meagan) Diener, Jeremy Rollins, Ross Diener, Emily Diener; 8 great grandchildren, Jacob & Matthew Borneman, Lila & Mason Borneman, Courtney, Andrew, & Brynn Diener, Keenan Rollins; two sisters-in-law, LaVerna Krueger of Chilton, Lucy Meyer of Sheboygan; and many special nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emil; a granddaughter, Cheri Lynn Diener; three brothers, Art, Edwin, & Helmuth Krueger; two sisters, Ella Noeldner, Leona Schmitting; four sisters-in-law & seven brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd St.) in Hilbert, with the Rev. Brian Crane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and again on Saturday at the church from 12 noon until the time of services. Online Condolences
