Public Health Department plans flu vaccine clinic

Door County Advocate

A Door County Public Health Department-sponsored walk-in clinic for the swine flu vaccine will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Southern Door High School. The school is at 2073 County DK, Brussels. Enter through the auditorium doors and go to the high school library.

Only those in high-risk groups are eligible to receive the vaccine.

They are pregnant women, people who live with or provide care for babies younger than than six months, health-care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material, people ages six months to 4 years, and children and adolescents ages 5 to 18 with medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.

Nasal mist and injectible shot vaccines will be available.

People with allergies to eggs or seasonal influenza should not take the vaccine.

Additional clinics will be scheduled as vaccine arrives. Check www.co.door.wi.gov, under Public Health Department, for updates, or call (920) 746-2234.
