Shirlee A. Hansman

Shirlee A. Hansman (nee O'Connor), 83, formerly of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, under hospice care at Carondelt Hospice in Tucson, Ariz.

Shirlee was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Stevens Point to Bert and Dorothy O'Connor. Shirlee married her best friend and companion in life, Stevens Point resident Marvin Hansman. The couple moved to Buffalo Grove, Ill., in 1959 before retiring to Green Valley, Ariz., in 1992.

Shirlee worked for Illinois Broaching in Schiller Park, Ill., for 30 years before retiring. She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Hansman, Green Valley; daughters, Melanie (John) Deardon of McHenry, Ill., and Jane (Gerald) Koeppen of Prospect Heights, Ill.; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jake) Schiller, Gregory Koeppen, Kevin (Laurie) Koeppen and Amy Kazak; great-grandchildren, Paige and Cooper Schiller, and Grace and Andrew Koeppen; sister, Virginia Green; and many friend and relatives. Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Dorothy O'Connor; sisters, Marion Jane O'Connor and Jill O'Connor; and brothers, Jack and Hal O'Connor.

The family would like to thank Margie, Marlene and Linda for making Shirlee their friend and caring so much for her.

To the doctors and staff and Carondelet Hospice in Tucson, the family sends sincere thanks for making her transition from this world such a comfortable, painless and peaceful journey.

Services for Shirlee will be private.

Donations, in Shirlee's name, may be made to Carondelet Hospice, 630 N. Alvernon Way No. 361, Tucson AZ 85711, to benefit others receiving hospice care services.
