“Sweet Dreams” drive to be held on Dec. 12 at Cedar Creek Mall

Wausau Daily Herald

Upper Iowa University student Gina Mattheisen, of Marshfield, will hold her second annual drive for “Sweet Dreams” care packages on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Cedar Creek Mall in Rothschild.

Mattheisen’s “Sweet Dreams” program was designed last year to provide “a gentle reminder that someone cares” to children who are the victims of endangered environments and placed in protective care.

Care packages consist of several items, such as a pair of pajamas and a warm blanket tucked into a pillowcase. The collected items are sorted and distributed to agencies throughout the state as well as 21 Drug Endangered Child task force teams to give to children being placed in foster care.

This past year, the Wisconsin Alliance for Drug Endangered Children committee and the Wisconsin Attorney General’s office recognized Mattheisen’s program.
