Fire destroys Shawano County town of Navarino home

NAVARINO – A kitchen fire Monday evening destroyed a residence in the town of Navarino, displacing a family of five, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department said.

A grease fire in the kitchen area was reported at 6:10 p.m. at W5659 Wisconsin 156. The residents, Lloyd and Ruth Allen and their three children, escaped without injury.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and is believed to be a total loss. The family was being assisted by the Red Cross.

Wisconsin 156 was closed for a short time. Navarino/Lessor Fire Department was assisted by Bonduel and Nichols firefighters.
