Vivian I. Hackl, 82, Town of Clayton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Theda Clark Medical Center.
Vivian was born April 15, 1927, in Hesperia, Michigan, the daughter of the late Sidney G. and Rhea (Laidlaw) Matthews. She was a graduate of Traverse City High School, and for 30 years was employed with the United States Dept. of Agriculture, Dairy Division, where she audited books for cheese plants. Vi was the first female auditor with the USDA, a position she held her last 16 years with them. Vivian spent her winters in Arizona, and loved being able to golf year round! She enjoyed playing cards (especially cribbage) and traveling. After she retired, she purchased her own motor home to cruise in. Spending time with her family was the greatest joy in her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Cynthy Anderson, Town of Clayton, and Glenna (Wayne) Blawat, Racine; her son, Randy (Dotti) Brown, Oshkosh; her grandchildren, Max (Jen) Blawat, Matthew (Marie) Blawat, Aaron (Tiffany) Blawat, Blake Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Alissa Brown, Nathan (Mindy) Brown, Jessica Brown, Klaus Ginke and Hans Ginke; there are six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Leslie, a sister-in-law, Gloria Matthews, brothers Dale (Harriett) Matthews and Elmo Matthews and her aunt Edith Laidlaw. Vivian was preceded in death by her brothers Clyde and Sidney, and her son-in-law, Jack Anderson.
The Funeral Service for Vivian will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Neenah, with Rev. Tabitha Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Vivian's honor may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3311 So. Packerland Dr., De Pere, WI, 54115.
