The Fond du Lac City Council will consider donated improvements to Taylor Park Pool and a request by the Fondy Swim Club to host two meets at the site.
The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Legislative Chambers of the City County Government Center, 160 S. Macy St. The public is encouraged to attend.
Taylor Park Pool was the topic of discussion last week when a councilman proposed closing the pool for the 2010 season as a cost-savings measure. The motion failed on a 5-2 vote.
Fondy Swim Club hosted a swim meet at Taylor Park Pool last July. The team called the meet a "huge success" and noted that it brought 247 swimmers from 19 communities to the area.
The two meets in 2010 would necessitate closure of the pool for public use on those days. As it previously did, the club would compensate the city for lost pool admissions.
In addition, the club is proposing to make several minor pool changes, including a more sturdy anchoring system of lane lines to the pool wall and addition of removable pole locations for backstroke flags.
