An 81-year-old St. Francis woman was injured in a three-car crash Saturday evening that closed the state Highway 42 exit of northbound Interstate 43 for about an hour, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department.

Jeffrey A. Kierzek, 26, of West Allis, was traveling north on I-43 south of the Highway 42 exit at 5:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Joshua Sasche, 32, of Sheboygan, Lt. John Detienne said.

The crash caused a third vehicle driven by Kathy McCarthy, 49, of Sister Bay, to go off the road near the exit, causing minor damage.

Lois Neubauer, who was a passenger in Kierzek's vehicle, was transported to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Detienne, Kierzek was tuning his radio at the time of the crash and was cited for inattentive driving.

The crash caused the Highway 42 exit to be closed for about an hour, while I-43 was reduced to one lane.
