The Ellison Bay Service Club meeting on Oct. 15 at the Viking Grill Annex in Ellison Bay marked the changing of officers for 2010-11. Outgoing President Phil Hansotia was presented with a leather-bound journal in which to keep his notes by incoming President Carol Lango, who thanked Hansotia for his service and key role in the formation of the Service Club, a consolidation of the former Mens and Womens Clubs. The new officers include Lango, Treasurer Gary Kemp, Secretary Kim Maedke-Shumway and Membership Chair Jan Forkert. Three new directors also were elected: Lee Telfer, George Slight and Forkert. Regular Service Club Board meetings are held monthly at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the Viking Grill Annex.
Cancer talk
The Health and Wellness Committee of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church will present an informative talk on breast cancer and cancer programs in Wisconsin at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church. The speaker will be Kris Miller, representative of the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition, and a cancer survivor. Come and bring a friend. It is open to the public and free of charge.
Kettle drive
The Northern Door Kiwanis Club, in conjunction with The Salvation Army, is getting ready for its third annual holiday kettle drive, set for Nov. 27-Dec.19 on weekends only at the following places: the Ellison Bay Pioneer Store, the Sister Bay Piggly Wiggly, Pamida and Al Johnson's Restaurant.
