Egg Harbor: Holly Days coming up

By Mary Anderson

The next event coming up in Egg Harbor is Holly Days. Starting with Breakfast with Santa on Nov. 27, it will also feature horse-drawn wagon rides and old-fashioned caroling at the Christmas tree lighting at Harbor View Park that same night. The choir always carols around town after the tree lighting as well. On Saturday, the fun continues with horse-drawn wagon rides through downtown and a visit from Santa on both days at the Main Street Shops. Visit www.eggharbordoorcounty.org for information.

Greens-N-Grains

I just received an e-newsletter from Greens-N-Grains in Egg Harbor, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with dinner and a movie starting at 6 p.m. Thursdays. For information, see its Web site at news@greens-n-grains.com, or call (920) 868-9999.

Mass schedule

There is a new Mass schedule at Stella Maris Catholic Church. The Egg Harbor site, St. John the Baptist Church, will be closed a while. Weekend Mass will be at 4 p.m. in Fish Creek, at 8 a.m. in Jacksonport, at 10 a.m. in Sister Bay and at 1 p.m. on selected dates on Washington Island. This new schedule runs through Jan. 24.

Day of the Dead exhibit

It has been interesting to visit the "Day of the Dead" exhibit at the Peninsula School of Art. Viewing the exhibit is wonderful way to learn about another culture. We are privileged to have a cultural event of this caliber in our community. Another way to commemorate All Soul's and All Saint's Days in our community, has been the cemetery walks in several communities hosted by Stella Maris Catholic Parish.

Thanksgiving dinner

The 13th annual community Thanksgiving dinner will be at noon Nov. 26, in the fellowship hall at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, Wisconsin 42, Ellison Bay. There is no charge for the dinner, but reservations are limited and are requested by Nov. 20. To make reservations, call Jill Lhost at (920) 854-4208. Any donations for the dinner will go to Katie's Fund at Door County Memorial Hospital.

A service of Thanksgiving will be at 11:15 a.m. in the sanctuary.
