A 17-year-old Green Bay girl was charged Thursday with reckless endangerment and substantial battery for allegedly stabbing another teen in the neck the previous night.

Kimberly Bessey, a Southwest High School junior, is accused of stabbing Alyssa Larscheid, 19, in the left side of the neck during a fight at Badger Park, 1790 Badger St. Larscheid's injuries were not considered life threatening.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Brown County court Thursday:

Larscheid told police that she had been receiving threatening text messages through a friend's phone, including a message that Bessey was going to kill Larscheid.

Larscheid told police that she didn't see the knife before she was wounded, but afterwards ran to the car nearby where her friend, her friend's daughter and her friend's mother were parked. They drove Larscheid to St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center about 11 p.m. Prosecutors allege Bessey tried to stab Larscheid's friend's mother as they got into the car.

Larscheid said she went to the park to "settle some issues" but did not expect a knife. Bessey allegedly plotted the attack because her boyfriend had cheated on her with Larscheid, the complaint said.

Police found a knife in Bessey's dresser drawer. Bessey was arrested at her Shawano Avenue home shortly after the stabbing.

Bessey remains in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $10,000. She is due back in court to complete her initial appearance Thursday.

If convicted, Bessey faces 16 years in prison.
