New London teen badly hurt in Appleton crash

APPLETON — A 17-year-old New London girl was seriously injured in a crash that occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the teenager was driving westbound on Wisconsin Avenue and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Morrison Street. Her vehicle was struck by a pick-up truck, driven by a 46-year-old Appleton man, traveling northbound on Morrison Street.

Two passengers were inside the girl's vehicle and all three were injured and transported to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. Police said the 17-year-old sustained possible life-threatening injuries.

The Appleton man was not hurt.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and are continuing their investigation. They are asking that anyone who witnessed the crash to call the department at 920-832-5500.
