Iris 'Bobbie' Grandmason
Iris "Bobbie" Grandmason, age 86, of Hudson and formerly of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Christian Community Home. She was born in Framlingham, England on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1922, the only child of Horatio and Eleanor (Bullen) Dack. Iris was given the nickname "Bobbie" by her father, and at age four her family moved to Australia.
During WWII, when US forces were in Australia, Bobbie met her soul mate. On August 19, 1944 she was united in marriage to Louis L. Grandmason at St. Mark's Church of England in Melbourne. In 1946, they, and their young son John, moved back to the United States, becoming residents of Iron River, MI. Three more children were born: sons, Phillip and Martin, and daughter, Robyn. While in MI, she was an active volunteer, especially at their church and at the children's school. In 1968, the family moved to Oshkosh, WI and Bobbie would spend many years working as a teacher's aide. She also loved to garden and sew. In 2002, she and Louis moved to Hudson to be closer to family. After a 62 year marriage filled with friendship, Louis passed away in 2007 and Bobbie continued to live at Pine Ridge in Hudson. She will remain in the hearts of her daughter, Robyn (Dave) Borchart of Hudson; sons, Martin Grandmason of Saginaw, MI, Phillip Gradmason of Northglenn, CO, and John (Sherol) Grandmason of Coshocoton, OH; and four grandchildren, Danielle and Samantha Borchart, and Matthew and Nicole Grandmason.
