Veteran tributes planned in Medford

MEDFORD -- Special patriotic events are planned at the Medford Area Middle School in the upcoming days.

The Wall that Heals and Traveling Museum will be escorted into the city of Medford on Nov. 9. Set-up of exhibits begins at 7 a.m. Nov. 10 at the middle school.

A Veterans Day public ceremony and opening of the Wall exhibit is at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. A Community Music Festival featuring patriotic tunes from all eras gets underway at 6 p.m.

Other planned events include:

  • 6 p.m. Nov. 12: Medford Schools Music Festival featuring tunes from all eras.

  • 7 p.m. Nov. 13: performance by Hank Cramer, a country and folk singer from the state of Washington. His father, Capt. Harry G. Cramer, was killed in Vietnam in 1957, the first American soldier lost in that conflict.

  • Nov. 14: Community music groups will be providing music throughout the day.

  • Nov. 15: 7:30 a.m. ecumenical worship service; 9 a.m., Gold Star Mother recognition, wreath laying ceremony and social; 4 p.m. closing ceremony.
