Donald R. Hibbert, 83, passed away on November 3, 2009, with his wife of 57 years by his side.
Don was born in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of Ray and Emma (Braunel) Hibbert. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and returned to receive his degree at Michigan State University, where he met and married Marilyn Vickers.
Soon after, he joined the accounting firm Touche, Ross, Bailey and Smart in Detroit, Michigan, and eight years later he became Chief Financial Officer of Wyandotte Chemicals. In 1970, he and Marilyn moved to Wisconsin, where he became CFO, director and vice chairman of the board for Kimberly-Clark Corp. of Neenah, Wisconsin. Don and Marilyn then moved with Kimberly-Clark Corp to Dallas, Texas. In 1992, Don and Marilyn moved to Naples, Florida, spending their summers in Door County, Wisconsin. In retirement, Don became a Stephen minister and chaplain visiting hospital patients.
In addition to his loving wife, Marilyn Vickers Hibbert, daughter of Irene and Edison Vickers, he is survived by his daughter Mary Jo Powell and her husband Don Powell, his son, John Hibbert and his wife Jennifer Hibbert, six grandchildren, Chris, Carlton, Clayton, Catherine, Donald II and Austin, five great-grandchildren. Don held a loving place in his heart for Marilyn's mother, Irene Vickers, his sister, Ida Louise Anderson and his niece and nephew, Paula and Bob Anderson.
Don "loved nature and all God's gifts. He turned seedlings into beautiful flowers."
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 500 Park Shore Dr., Naples, with The Rev. Joseph F. Maiocco, Rector officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, Wisconsin.
The Hibbert family request that memorial contributions be made in Don's memory to the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida (PASFI) 2950 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 20, Naples, FL 34103 or St. John's Episcopal Church, Naples, Florida.
