The church accepted the city's shared settlement offer on more than $7,100 in damages resulting from sewer backup into the parish rectory at 212 Appleton St.

Public Works Director Mark Radtke said a city contractor "lined over" what was thought to be an old abandoned sanitary sewer lateral out to Third Street last march after a church employee had told the city's inspector that the church's sanitary sewer lateral went out to Appleton Street.

City Atty. Pamela Captain said the church has indicated they would accept the offer.
