Dinner features visit with Mary Todd Lincoln

For The Reporter

The New Holstein Historical Society's Annual Awards Dinner and Program on Nov. 10 at the New Holstein Community Center will celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.

For the price of a $10 admission, attendees will be served a catered dinner beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a performance by Jessica Michna as Mary Todd Lincoln.

Mrs. Lincoln will recall the days of her girlhood in the genteel society of Lexington, Ky., remember the meeting of and marriage to a gangly young lawyer and detail her eventual rise to the status of first lady of the United States, according to an event press release.

The evening will also feature presentations of the NHHS's Pioneer Award and Volunteer Service Awards.

Reservations are required for this event and must be made before Friday by calling Kay Nett at (920) 898-5776 or Terry Thiessen at (920) 948-7748 or via e-mail at tethiessen@verizon.net.
