Finish the workweek in swingin' style with Mr. Lucky

One of Wisconsin's finest swing bands comes to the John Michael Kohler Arts Center Friday, Nov. 6, when Mr. Lucky takes the stage at the center's Festive Fridays program. The event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.,

The 11-piece band, boasting a six-piece horn section, will have the audience jumping and with its mix of swing, R&B, Latin and ballroom music. A free dance lesson during intermission will provide an opportunity to polish up the footwork.

The ensemble, named 2006 Swing Band of the Year by Wisconsin Area Music Industry, fills the niche between small combo and big band with a "Rat Pack" approach to swing and ballroom dance music from all decades. The standards of the 1940s are covered, as are the swing tunes of today. The band's playlist also picks up swing tunes of the decades in-between that somehow were labeled "pop."

Festive Friday tickets are $10 ($8 for Arts Center members) and include complimentary appetizers. Attendees may also stroll through the "American Story" exhibition throughout the evening.

To purchase tickets, call (920) 458-6144 or visit www.jmkac.org/FestiveFridays09/10.

There will be a cash bar available; attendees must be 21. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Festive Fridays is supported in part by St. Nicholas Hospital.
