Prep boys' volleyball: Appleton North defeats Kimberly to advance to WIAA sectional final, while Neenah is eliminated

WIAA Division 1 Sectional semifinals Appleton North 3, Kimberly 0

At Appleton North, the Lightning swept the Papermakers 25-19, 26-24, 25-17, to advance to the sectionl final at 5 p.m. on Thursday against Kaukauna at Kimberly.

Appleton North leaders: John Doyle 11 kills; Brent Bicigo 10 kills, Micky Flynn 28 assists; Chris Daley 6 kills; Kashia Thao 6 kills.

Nicolet 3, Neenah 0

At Glendale, Neenah's season came to an end with a loss to Nicolet, which won in three sets 25-13, 25-12, 25-18.

"Nicolet has a lot of weapons at their disposal and used them very well to put us in pressure situations that we couldn't escape from," said Neenah coach Brian Zimmerman. "I'm proud of the Neenah players and the goals they accomplished this year."

Neenah leaders: Alex Thomsen 12 assists, 4 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs; Ryan Robillard 12 assists, 5 kills, 4 blocks, 7 digs; Alex Malesa 10 kills, 4 blocks; Jon Zerrien 8 kills, 3 blocks, 4 digs.
