Letter: Support Neighbor-to-Neighbor
Giving thanks is something we do not spend enough time doing. Intentionally saying thank you is not just an exercise in good manners; it is a way of bringing giving full circle. Neighbor-to-Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers would like to thank everyone who has supported our nonprofit with donations and in-kind services. We especially want to thank Door County Memorial Hospital, Whispering Pines, Zion Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church on Washington Island, Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club and Baylake Bank Conference Center. Numerous community members also support our work with monetary, equipment and memorial donations, and we thank you for your thoughtfulness. As demand for our services increases, we must respond by purchasing additional equipment, maintaining access to equipment (snow removal is especially costly), training more volunteers and meeting operating expenses. Many people do not realize that Neighbor-to-Neighbor saved Door County residents more than $300,000 in medical expenses in 2008. Whether borrowing medical equipment, partnering with a peer companion or a respite care provider or attending the Lemonade Club (our cancer support group, recipients of our services keep money in their pocket. Please consider saying thank you by making a monetary, equipment or memorial donation. Community support will allow Neighbor-to-Neighbor to continue providing services during 2009.
