Werner R. Horn

Werner Rudolph Horn, 93, of 8311 Highway 13 S., Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Wisconsin Rapids Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Woodland Lutheran Church in the town of Rome. The Rev. Stan Kwiecien will officiate.

Werner was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Dresden, Germany, to Fredrich and Margarethe (Vogel) Horn. He married Eva Kirchner on Oct. 23, 1943, in Dresden.

Werner was employed as an industrial engraver for Paramount Engraving Company in Chicago until his retirement in 1982.

Werner enjoyed listening to classical music and reading. He loved to travel and study maps of the United States. He also enjoyed theater. He was a member of Woodland Lutheran Church.

Werner is survived by his wife, Eva, Wisconsin Rapids; son, Roland (Ruthanne) Horn, Hoffman Estates, Ill.; and grandson, Collin, also of Hoffman Estates, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials are preferred in Werner's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
