Church among those to celebrate All Saints Day

For the Marshfield News-Herald

NEILLSVILLE -- All Saints Day was Nov. 1. This year, the day was on Sunday, and Christians and saints were remembered and honored.

In recognition and celebration of All Saints Day, the Neillsville United Methodist Church honored all members who've passed away since the year 2000.

The "Turn of the Century" Memorial and Dedication Service was a reminder that those deceased members of the church are remembered for their contributions, loyalty and dedication to the church and their Christian faith.

Family and friends of the 19 people who were honored lit a candle in remembrance of the deceased person who was a member of the United Methodist Church.

All Saints Day has it origins in church history dating back centuries.

It is the festival on which churches remember and honor all the Christian faithful, both known and unknown.

It is also a day of celebration to remember all Christians (saints) who have passed away so that they will not be forgotten.

The United Methodist Church will serve its annual Thanksgiving Meal at noon Thanksgiving Day. A freewill offering will be accepted.

For reservations or more information, call 715-743-2556.
