Wausau Daily Herald

MERRILL — Former Lincoln County resident Robert Townsend of Madison will read from his recently published novel, “Spirit Falls,” at T.B. Scott Library from 1 pm. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, in the library’s Community Room.

“Spirit Falls” is a coming-of-age novel set along the border between Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin. This book is the prologue to a trilogy Townsend is writing about deception between nations and families, war and peace in 20th century America, the families who fought those wars, and the lies we accept and those we don’t.

Copies of “Spirit Falls” will be available for sale and for signing by the author at the Nov. 15 presentation.

Townsend grew up on a farm near Dudley in eastern Lincoln County. After graduating from Merrill High School, Townsend joined the military, where he served in Vietnam and later as a U.S. military intelligence officer.
