Glenn M. DeBaker, age 80, of Manitowoc, passed away on Oct. 31, 2009, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Glenn was born on June 3, 1929, in Bayview, son of the late Ben and Caroline (Monfils) DeBaker. Growing up in the Dyckesville area, Glenn graduated from Green Bay East High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until he was honorable discharged in 1955. Glenn graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1958. On April 23, 1960, he married the former Jacqueline Frisbie at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Green Bay.

Glenn worked for Berners, Schober and Kilp of Green Bay until 1974. After that he spent a short time with Rohde Brothers in Plymouth before he started his own mechanical contractor business, GM DeBaker Associates Inc. in Manitowoc. Glenn retired in 1988.

Following his retirement, Glenn continued to enjoy fishing, golfing and using his amateur ham radio. Glenn was also an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, former member of Serra, Noon Rotary, Elks, Knights of Columbus and the Mancorad Radio Clubs.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; four children: Brian and Amy (Heck) DeBaker, Oregon, Wis.; Gregg and Tomoko (Fukahori) DeBaker, Farmington Hills, Mich.; Cheryl and Gary Mortensen, Delafield, Wis.; Paula and Brian Post, Sussex, Wis.; eight grandchildren: Amanda, Daniel, Hayley, Michael, Samantha, Devin, Nicholas, and Aaron; one sister: Grace DeBaker; one sister-in-law: Marie Huhn; two brothers-in-law: John Frisbie; William and Connie Frisbie. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law: Maurice Hugh; sister-in-law: Jane Frisbie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, North 14th and Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. The Revs. Gerald Foley and Richard Klingeisen will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum with military rites accorded by the Manitowoc. V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St. A prayer service will be led by Deacon Kenn Nelesen at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Glenn's name.
