Dr. Joan A. Regan
Dr. Joan A. Regan, 88, formerly of 520 S. Main St., Fond du Lac, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the St. Francis Home, where she had been a resident since August of this year.
She was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Albert R. and Mary A. Barber Wittock.
Dr. Regan graduated from Carroll College and the Logan School of Chiropractic of St. Louis. She was a former member of the Wisconsin and International Chiropractic Associations, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Association. Joan was a former member of the Girl Scout Council Board of Directors. She maintained her practice in Fond du Lac from 1975 to 2008. Prior to that, she practiced in Pewaukee and Waukesha. In her years of practice, she had taken care of more than 10,000 people.
Surviving are two daughters, Anne (Steven) Oberlander of Charlotte, NC, and Ellen (Timothy) Burmeister of Brown Deer, Wis.; four grandchildren, Bowman (Asa) Heiden of Doha, Qatar, Regan Ariel Oberlander of Charlotte, NC, Horst Burmeister of Brown Deer and Ruairig Burmeister, also of Brown Deer; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia Heiden of Doha, Qatar.
Her parents, her husband, Dr. Walter Diekfuss, a daughter, Joyce J. Heiden, and a brother, Sheridan Vincent Wittock, preceded her in death.
Services: A family memorial service will be held on Nov. 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha, Wis. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Joyce Heiden Memorial Fund, c/o the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac, Wis. 54935.
