Yesterday in Marshfield

10 YEARS AGO: The shipment of Girl Scout cookies for the Marshfield and Auburndale area came in on Monday. A semi-truck delivered 22,983 boxes of cookies to the Youth Building at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

A daughter, Molly Jo, was born today at Saint Joseph's Hospital to Dennis and Kay Schultz of Colby. She joins a sister, Marissa, 2.

25 YEARS AGO: Students of the Auburndale St. Mary's Elementary School are participating in the Multiple Sclerosis Ready SuperStar Program during November. The students will solicit pledges for the number of books read, with proceeds going to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Democratic Sheriff Robert Bodette will face Republican Clement Spencer on Nov. 6 in the race for Wood County Sheriff.

50 YEARS AGO: The Board of Public Works decided to hold over until their next meeting, any action on a proposal of a St. Paul, Minn., firm to furnish, "free of charge," about 35 or 40 trash containers for the downtown area. The firm would erect the containers, but would reserve the right to put advertisements on the sides of them.

75 YEARS AGO: Halloween was pretty quiet in Marshfield. Of course, there were jack-o-lanterns, false faces and ghosts flitting about, but Halloween seemed to have lost its kick.
