Hannah Center celebrates life

For the Marshfield News-Herald

MARSHFIELD -- On Oct. 17, more than 100 friends of the Hannah Center Inc., a Marshfield maternity home, came together for their annual fundraiser.

Gary Diamond, master of ceremonies, introduced Mari Bohman, executive director, who spoke of the beginning of the Hannah Center as well as its most recent involvement in the community and beyond.

More than 135 women have called the Hannah Center home, and many local and area women and their families utilize the clearinghouse of infant and children's clothing, which is given without charge to those in need.

The highlight of the evening was a visual presentation by Jennifer Boeke, a local artist. She was accompanied by Elizabeth Dahlby, vocalist, and Christy Erickson, keyboardist. The artist's rendering of a young mother with her baby on her lap was completed during the musical presentation, and a print of the young woman was given to each person present.

Many of those attending have been benefactors of the Hannah Center since its inception in 1993. The Hannah Center never has accepted any federal or state monies, relying on the generosity of individuals, clubs, churches, organizations and businesses. For more information or a tour, call the Hannah Center at 715 387 6300.
