Happy haunting!
Fall Harvest Dinner
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor will host a Fall Harvest Dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7. The menu will include baked chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, meatballs, vegetables and salads. There also will be apple and pumpkin pie for dessert. Everyone is welcome.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children younger than 6 eat free. Tickets will be available at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling (920) 839-2494, (920) 839-2565 or (920) 839-2179.
Tax program
It's that time of year when preparations begin for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The program is a free tax service primarily for, but not limited to, low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Anyone who may be interested in doing tax preparation work for the 2009 season should contact Karl Raasch at (920) 839-2157.
Tax training is provided by the AARP in Green Bay in mid-January. Previous tax work is, of course, a plus.
Hunting restrictions
In order to help curb the damage caused by white-tailed deer in the Ridges Sanctuary, certain designated areas of the Ridges properties will be open to hunting during the Wisconsin gun deer season, Nov. 21-29.
During this time, trails at the Ridges and at the Logan Creek Property will be closed to hiking. Ridges lands are not open to bow hunting or during any early gun seasons.
Hunting on Ridges property is by written permission only. Hunting regulations and permission forms are available at the Ridges office.
Call (920) 839-2802 for information.
See you next time on this side of the Door.
