Forestville: Town chairman resigns

By Gina Wautier

Edson Stevens has given more than his share of time to the residents of the town of Forestville. For almost 20 years, Stevens served as town chairman and in addition has served as director of the Southern Door Fire Department board. He recently resigned from both positions, citing health reasons. He is to be commended and thanked for his many years of service.

On Oct. 9, the Town Board appointed Supervisor Gerald Uecker as town chairman to replace Stevens, and the board is now seeking a person to fill the position of town supervisor for the term expiring April 2011.

The board also is looking for someone who will serve a two-year term as director for the Southern Door Fire Department Board left vacant by Stevens.

Applicants must be a resident of the town of Forestville. Interested applicants should call (920) 856-6620 or (920) 856-6551.

Skin cancer talk

Diane Thaler of Dermatology Associates will be the featured speaker at the Family Centers' Breakfast Social set for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Town Hall building in Maplewood.

In Northeastern Wisconsin, there are nine Dermatology Associates offices, including the Sturgeon Bay location. Dermatologists are board certified, with additional staff comprised of surgeons, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

Thaler is a board-certified dermatologist whose professional areas of interest include skin cancer detection and treatment, acne treatment, cosmetic dermatology — including wrinkle fillers and treatments and Botox — hair loss and pediatric dermatology. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Contact Dermatitis Society. Her wit and humor will have you smiling as she leads the discussion on recognizing changes in skin and how to prevent skin cancers that may develop.

All are welcome. Register by calling the Family Centers at (920) 825-1430 by Tuesday.

Pumpkin sellers

I am going to rely on the readers of this column to help me find out all the places in the Forestville area selling pumpkins.

It's not too late to decorate for Thanksgiving, even though Halloween will soon pass.

Call me at (920) 495-1062 or e-mail me at gina@wautier.com with news about your favorite place to purchase that great pumpkin, and I'll relay my findings just in time to make your favorite pumpkin treats for the holiday.
