Granton school supports animal shelter

On Oct. 21, Clark County Humane Society came to Granton Area School to do a short presentation to the 4-year-old kindergarten through fifth grades. This was a follow up to a theme the 4K classes had about pets and their trip to the shelter. Betty Barr presented on behalf of the humane society and brought in one of the dogs she got through the humane society. Then the students and Betty were in for a big surprise. The Granton Bulldog mascot came in to help present the humane society a check for $592.78. The money was raised by the Granton staff and elementary students through a penny/change drive. With the money, Granton Area Schools will be sponsoring three dogs for four months each and a dog for one additional month and three cats for three months each and a cat for one additional month. Barr thanked the students and staff and said she was amazed that the school has donated so much during the past three years -- $1,598.50.
