Community Church to host Jay Seegert

Community Church is hosting Jay Seegert for a presentation titled "From Creation To Christ: The Old Testament in a Nutshell" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

The seminar is designed to provide a chronological understanding of history and the Bible, including dinosaurs, the ice age and Old Testament events. There is no charge to attend.

Seegert is the president and principal lecturer for the Creation Education Center as well as a national speaker for Creation Ministries International.

Ripon church offers free spaghetti dinner

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ripon will hold a free spaghetti dinner from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the church, 227 Houston St.

Everyone, regardless of circumstance, is welcome. Freewill donations will be received with appreciation and used for the continuation of St. Peter's Breaking Bread mission.

Pilgrim United Church announces fall classes

Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow St., continues its fall adult education programs.

The study of "The Bible for Dummies," led by Neal Sieglaff, will meet from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, through Sunday Nov. 22.

Bible with Bagels will be meeting from 9 to 10:30 a.m. to study "Becoming Fully Human: The Greatest Glory of God" by Joan Chittister, Doreen Holland will lead the discussion.

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, Jean Lawrence will lead a discussion of the bestselling novel "The Shack". No registration is necessary.

Fall Festival planned at St. Cloud church

St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud will celebrate its Fall Festival on Sunday, Nov. 1.

The event begins with a 10 a.m. Polka Mass featuring the Clete Bellin Orchestra. A broasted chicken and ham dinner with homemade desserts will be served at the Cabaret Supper Club on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Refreshments and carryout will be available.

KC Ladies auxiliary hosts Mass, breakfast

The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will host its annual 9 a.m. Mass and breakfast to follow on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the KC Hall, 795 Fond du Lac Ave.

The menu, served from 10 a.m. to noon, includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, desserts and beverages.

Cost is $6 for adults, $ 3 for children ages 4 to 10, and free for kids ages 3 and under. A bake sale, cherry tree, games and raffles will be held.

Spaghetti supper will be held in Lomira

A spaghetti supper will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church St., Lomira.

Senior social set at Immanuel Trinity

Immanuel Trinity Lutheran will hold a senior social at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 20 Wisconsin American Drive.

The event includes light refreshments, door prizes and fellowship. A program features K-9 demonstrations by the Fond du Lac Police Department and folksinger David Drake with a sing-a-long on Wisconsin history.

Church Women United schedules gathering

"Piecing Earth Together" is the theme of the Church Women United World Community Day Worship service to be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Salem United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac.

All women of the Fond du Lac area are invited to join in the event.

Labyrinth explained at St. Agnes event

An Introduction to the Labyrinth will be held from 9 to 9:15 a.m., with an open walk scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 7, in the chapel at St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division St.

The design of the labyrinth is embedded in the oak and walnut floor of the chapel.

The Center to BE will sponsor the communal labyrinth walk in the chapel. The public is welcome to take part.

For those interested in learning about the labyrinth, The Center to BE will present the brief introduction at 9 a.m. No registration is required. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.

The Center to BE is a non-profit organization committed to fostering spiritual awareness and growth.

St. Anna Parish schedules Polka Mass

St. Anna Parish at St. Anna will sponsor a tenderloin tips and ham dinner and Polka Mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

Mass music will be provided by the Ralph Thull Good Time Dutchmen. The family-style dinner will be served in the parish hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Homemade pies and tortes will be featured for dessert. The price for the meal is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under. Children 6 and under eat free.

The event also features a silent auction, ornament tree and raffles. Proceeds will benefit the parish. Facilities are handicapped accessible. Catholic Knights is co-sponsoring the event.

Chicken dinner planned at St. Mary's

Holy Family Parish Fall Chicken Dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Holy Family St. Mary's Gym, 93 Marquette St.

Chicken dinner includes all the trimmings, desserts and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children, and free for children 2 and younger. There will also be theme baskets and a raffle with cash prizes.

The public is invited, and carryouts are available.

Group for young Catholics formed

Nazareth Young Adults, an outreach of Holy Family Parish, will launch Nov. 17.

The group invites Roman Catholic young adults, ages 18-35, to join together for prayer, spiritual growth and evangelization.

Meetings are at 7 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month in Marian University's Dorcas Chapel, located at the corner of Division Street and National Avenue. Singles and married couples are welcome.

Two area residents to receive Catholic awards

Two area residents will be receiving 2009 Archbishop's Vatican II Awards on Tuesday, Nov. 10, for outstanding contributions to the Catholic Church and to their area communities.

The awards recognize men, women and young adults who exemplify the Catholic Church's vision as set forth at Vatican II.

College student Julie Twohig of St. Cloud will receive the Youth Service in Education Award. Twohig is a parishioner at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church in Armstrong.

As a high school student, Twohig was an active member of her parish's Lifeteen Program. She has participated in several mission trips through her church.

Shepherd of the Hills pastor, the Rev. Joe Juknialis, will also be recognized. Juknialis will receive the Service to Priesthood Award. Juknialis has served in the priesthood for 40 years.

The 2009 Archbishop's Vatican II Awards will be presented at a prayer service at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson St., Milwaukee.
