Waushara County Sheriff David R. Peterson said Coroner Roland Handel pronounced the driver, Colton J. Meyers, dead at the scene.

A passenger, Jordan M. Lysaght, was flown from the scene by ThedaStar helicopter. He was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Peterson said the crash occurred just after 10:30 a.m. when the car was headed south on 15th Road in the Town of Rose, failed to stop for a stop sign at Apache Drive and collided with a westbound truck driven by Gilbert "Butch" Eger, 46, of Wautoma.

He said the car struck the pickup on the passenger side and both vehicles came to rest on the southwest side of the intersection.

Eger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The sheriff’s department and the Wisconsin State Patrol are continuing their investigation.

The death is the fifth on county roads this year.
