The Sheboygan Rotary Concert Series will welcome world-renowned guitarist Daryl Stuermer and his newest project — Daryl Stuermer-Genesis Rewired — to the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts for a 7:30 p.m. show on Friday, Jan. 16.
Since 1978, lead guitarist Stuermer has been a touring member of the super-group Genesis, performing for sold- out audiences throughout the world. In between tours, Stuermer has recorded eight solo albums of original music and covered his favorite Genesis tunes along the way.
His new band is a fusion of Stuermer's unique Genesis renditions and the soulful Collins-like voice of French Canadian Martin Levac.
Performing Genesis' classic hits, including "Land of Confusion," "Invisible Touch," "I Can't Dance" and "Turn It On Again," as well as original music by Stuermer, the five-piece band with a sensational light show presents the music of Genesis with pure abundant authenticity.
Stuermer burst onto the national music scene in 1975 when he began touring Europe with jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and went on to record three innovative albums with him. In 1978, Stuermer became lead guitarist and touring member of Genesis. As an original member of the Phil Collins band, his distinctive guitar sound can be heard on such classic hits as "In the Air Tonight" and "Easy Lover." In between the touring years, he has had a nine-album solo career and has carried on performing with his own band.
Vocalist Levac's talents extend beyond his award-winning vocal and percussion skills. The Montreal native's amazing musicianship comes from a wide variety of influences.
As a songwriter, he was a three-time finalist at Canada's Granby's Songwriters Festival and has recorded three solo albums since 2000, including his latest release, "Influences." Levac's passion for the music of Genesis and Phil Collins inspired him to join the "The Musical Box" tribute band, where he portrayed drummer Phil Collins from 2002 to 2007 as well as lead singer and drummer for "Turn It On Again" from 1999 to 2002. In January, Levac will tour Europe with his own production of "Dance into the Light" band, performing the best of Phil Collins.
