MEDFORD -- Mary "Isabel" Sigmund, 93, of Medford died Oct. 27, 2009, at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic church, Medford. Burial will be in the Molitor Catholic Cemetery, town of Molitor.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, where there will be a 7 p.m. Rosary service; and again Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Isabel was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Medford to Anton and Catherine (Bodewin) Gengler.

Prior to marriage, she began her teaching career as a cadet teacher at Whittlesey, then at Rib Lake. She then taught variously at the Molitor, Pinetree and Perkinstown schools and lastly at the Jump River School.

She was married to Walter Sigmund on March 30, 1940, and moved with him to a farm west of Medford on Highway M and two years later to another farm in the town of Molitor where they lived and worked together until October 1969, when they moved to Quesnel, British Columbia, in Canada.

Isabel and Walt moved back to the town of Molitor farm in 1971. Walter preceded her in death May 13, 1973. After Walt's passing, Isabel went to work as a housekeeper at Holy Rosary Rectory until her retirement.

Survivors include nine children, Richard (Janet) Sigmund, Jean (Frank) Thums and Joyce (Gene) Denzine, all of Medford; Nancy Davison of Madison; Neal Sigmund of Necedah; Leon (Diane) Sigmund of Calicoon, N.Y.; Gary (Sheila) Sigmund of Schofield; Constance (Lawrence) Goulet of Quesnell, B.C., Canada; and Kevin (Cheryl) Sigmund of Colfax; 38 grandchildren, more than 100 great-grandchildren and at least three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Gengler of West Bend.
