John F. Wolfert

John F. Wolfert, age 75, of 748 Cattail Court, Plymouth, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2009 after a long and hard fought battle with cardiovascular disease. For many years, the Wolfert's lived on North 13th Street in Sheboygan.

He was born May 23, 1934 in Sheboygan to the late Frank and Crescentia (Stalter) Wolfert.

He graduated from Central High School, Sheboygan in June of 1953.

John Wolfert and Janet Hermann were united in marriage September 29, 1956 at Fountain Park United Brethren Church. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006.

John began his painting career at Kaboord and Wolfert Decorating from 1951-1963. He then formed his own painting business, John Wolfert Decorating, operating it from 1963 until 1976. He worked for Grube Decorating until he retired in 1997.

John is a long time member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church where he served as a church trustee and usher.

He was a member of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (P.D.C.A.) for many years. He also was a member of the Christian Businessmen's Association.

John found great joy in his family and friends, in his work and caring for his home. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

He enjoyed many trips to Mexico, traveling throughout the United States, and now wintering in Florida. He enjoyed fishing with his family, trips up north, and Packer parties with good friends. After retiring, he became an avid golfer and followed Steve Stricker on the PGA tour.

John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Survivors include his wife Janet; three children and their spouses, Jeffery and Linda Wolfert of Sheboygan, Jill and David Olderman, James and Cassandra Wolfert, both of Howards Grove; eight grandchildren, Scott Wolfert, Melissa and Jacob Obbink, Kristin Olderman, Amy Olderman, and Jena Olderman, Tylor Wolfert, Ryan and Kim Wolfert and Megan Wolfert; four great-grandsons, Nicholas, Johnathan, Hunter and Hayden; three brothers, Frank and Irma Wolfert of Sheboygan, Donald and Sandra Wolfert, Thomas and Cindy Wolfert, both of Sheboygan Falls, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Wolfert; a sister, Mary Gorr; and his in-laws, Elmer and Ella Hermann.

A funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 30 at Fountain Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Kerry Wilson officiating. A private entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the church, 933 Erie Ave., on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.

John's family would like to thank Dr. George Kuttickat, Dr. Jack Manley, Dr. Curtis Hancock, John's nurse for many years Jesse, and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in his name, for Fountain Park United Methodist Church and the Wisconsin Heart Hospital.
