Waupaca County to present zoning ordinance draft at public meetings

Post-Crescent West

WAUPACA — The public is invited to attend informational meetings regarding the county’s comprehensive planning process, particularly as it pertains to the zoning ordinance.

Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in the New London High School commons and Nov. 5 in Room LL42 at the Waupaca County Courthouse.

The county and its communities completed a four-year comprehensive planning process in 2007. Based on recommendations, a coordinated multi-jurisdictional implementation project was initiated in 2008. Updating the county subdivision and zoning ordinances were key components of the project.

The subdivision ordinance was updated and adopted in March 2009, while updating the zoning ordinance is a work in progress. The ordinance modifications provide many options for towns to customize the zoning districts within the countywide framework to meet local needs. The intent is to maintain local decision-making while coordinating development decisions within the county.
