World War II veteran, Les Krug, leaves for Washington, D.C.

De Pere resident Les Krug, 88, left aboard an Old Glory Honor Flight Tuesday morning from Outagamie County Regional Airport in Greenville.

Krug was among almost 100 World War II veterans from the Wisconsin who were invited to spend the day in the nation's capital, visiting the World War II Memorial and other sites.

Michael Bonfigt, Krug's stepson-in-law, also of De Pere, accompanied Krug on the trip as a guardian.

The group is scheduled to return Tuesday night, with a ceremony scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. for family, friends and the public in the lobby at Outagamie County Regional Airport.

Hobart's Robert Reeners also is making the trip.
