SHAWANO — Authorities say the deaths Monday of two elderly people here Monday appear to be a murder-suicide.

Police were summoned to an apartment building at 205 E. Division St. about 3:45 p.m. Monday on a report that two people were found dead inside an apartment.

When officers arrived, they discovered the bodies of an 87-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman, according to a news release from police Lt. Dan Mauel.

The release did not explain what led police to believe that the deaths were a murder-suicide, but said the investigation is continuing by the police department at the Shawano County coroner’s office.

Police said the names of the victims would be released later.
