‘Delivering Fire Prevention’ underscores the need for fire safety in Rib Mountain, Schofield, Wausau and Weston

Fire trucks and firefighters will deliver pizzas to selected families on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

It’s part of a program called “Delivering Fire Prevention,” and it’ll be held between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Some families who order pizza from Papa John’s or Marco’s Pizza will be randomly chosen to have their food delivered by firefighters from the Rib Mountain Schofield, Wausau and Weston fire departments. If families have working smoke detectors in their homes, one pizza will be free. All families visited will receive a free smoke detector, batteries and fire prevention information from Safe Kids Wisconsin.

The program, sponsored by State Farm Insurance and organized through Safe Kids Wausau Area, is designed to increase awareness about the necessity of having working smoke detectors in every home. It’s also meant to remind homeowners to change the batteries in their smoke detectors twice a year.

To participate, Wausau and Rib Mountain residents can call Papa John’s at 849-1818. Schofield and Weston residents can call Marco’s Pizza at 359-4488. For more information, call Safe Kids Wausau Area at 847-2864.
