Howard and LaVerne Wilke of Random Lake celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 6, 2009, with an open house hosted by their daughters at the home of their daughter and son-in-law.

The couple was married on June 4, 1949 at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, Batavia.

The former LaVerne Gruenewald was born Dec. 12, 1930, in the Town of Sherman.

Her husband was born May 12, 1929 in the Town of Fredonia. The couple were self-employed dairy farmers for 42 years, retiring in 1991.

The couple has two children, Darla Jean Knaus and Dawn (Robert) Boehlke, both of Random Lake, and three grandchildren.
