Hours for trick-or-treating will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in Jacksonport. Participating homes will have their porch lights turned on so parents and children will know which houses they can visit.
From information that we gathered last year from other towns and villages in Door County, most communities had trick-or-treating on Halloween. Most towns had trick-or-treating in the late afternoon into early evening, usually from 3 to 7 p.m. Those hours safely provided some daylight for younger children going out with their parents or older brothers and sisters. These hours were determined and selected by the Jacksonport townspeople at the annual town meeting held each April. Happy Halloween to all.
Immanuel Lutheran Church dinner
Door County community and visitors are invited to come for food and friendship, when Immanuel Lutheran Church, Baileys Harbor, serves its annual Fall Harvest Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7 in the church fellowship hall. The menu will include chicken and dressing, meatballs, salads and vegetables, and pumpkin and apple pie. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6.
